Things to do - general

Cape Town Apartments – located in the area between Table Mountain and the Harbour is commonly referred to as the Cape Town City Bowl. The name “Citybowl” is called that because of the way that Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and Devils’ Peak seems to hold the City like a bowl!

Did you know that Cape Town, also known as the “Mother City”, and is the oldest city in our country.

There are a multitude of brilliant places to explore such as Adderley Street, Long Street, the Foreshore and the Docks, Strand Street, the Grand Parade and also the Castle of Good Hope and many more! The fantastic part about all this is that many of these attractions can be reached on foot.

Areas such as Greenmarket Square and St. George’s Mall are located at the heart of Cape Town. This part of Cape Town is famously known for its different vibes; sounds and not to forget about the crafts of Africa.

A must to do is a visit up Table Mountain; and V&A Waterfront where you will have the best shopping experience.

Sports and nature

Sports and nature One of the appeals of Cape Town is the variety of activities to enjoy. You are never bored in Cape Town! The CBD is a natural amphitheatre-shaped area bordered by Table Bay and defined by the mountains of Signal Hill, Lion's Head, Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It is a city alive with creativity, colour, sounds and tastes. Here you will find anything that tickles your fancy, whether you are very sporty or the ultimate outdoor adventurer. Things to do places to see: Bike & Saddle offers the opportunity to savour the sights and sounds of the fairest Cape by bicycle, making your way alongside the Atlantic Ocean, meandering past the mighty Table Mountain and experiencing the culture and heritage of Cape Town from the back of a bike. Tandem Paragliding flights, daily from Lion's Head and Signal Hill. This is the number one rated outdoor adventure & holiday activity in Africa. Cape Town beaches have soft, white sand, great surrounding scenery and mountainous backdrops. The Cape Point nature reserve or Cape of Good Hope, situated at the south-western tip of Africa, is a place well known for treacherous seas. The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest building in South Africa. a Must see piece of history. In Cape Town city centre there is one of Cape Town’s oldest and most popular markets known as Green Market Square. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is a world famous garden which is home to indigenous flora to the Cape. Boulders Beach is situated just after the naval port and picturesque village of Simons’s Town. The beach has a very healthy population of penguins. For nearly 400 years, Robben Island, 12 kilometres from Cape Town, was a place of banishment, exile, isolation & imprisonment. Table Mountain Cableway is a must experience! There is something very special about Table Mountain; it leaves a majestic and powerful impression on all that have visited. Two Oceans Aquarium has over 3000 animals, including fishes, invertebrates, mammals, reptiles and birds can be seen in the spectacular underwater world. Situated in the working harbour of Cape Town the vibrant V&A Waterfront is South Africa’s most visited attraction.

Nightlife

Nightlife While Cape Town is beautiful by day, by night, it’s a city of energy, diversity and rhythm. From the sweaty chic of bump-and-grind clubs to the late morning licences of rock 'n roll venues it's all full jets ahead in Cape Town's clubs. Vibrant Long Street is one of the best places to party. Cape Town CBD has a variety of restaurants. You can enjoy the beautiful night view from signal Hill or Table Mountain drive.

Culture and history

Culture & history Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa. Its rich colonial history has endowed the city with some distinctive old buildings in the distinctive Cape Dutch style with its whitewashed walls, ornate gables and thatched roofs. Some of the best examples of these are to be found on the many wineries, the m ost easily accessible of which is Groot Constantia in Cape Town's southern suburbs. An easy stroll along the Historical Mile between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay will take you past Posthuys, the oldest building in South Africa.
A host of museums on a huge range of the usual subjects like natural history, cultural history and just plain ordinary history complement the smaller ones like the District Six Museum, a doll museum and a police museum. But there is more to culture than the stuff found in museums. Culture is about how people live — how they organise their lives. So you can choose from a range of cultural tours. Most involve a drive out to one or more of the townships of Nyanga, Langa, Gugulethu, Crossroads or Khayelitsha, where you can see how local people live, visit historic sites mostly pertaining to the struggle against apartheid, shop in the open air markets, enjoy a drink or a meal at a shebeen (township tavern) and, if you like, even consult a traditional healer or sangoma.
